Greetings to all!!!

Chemical Engineering, in essence, concerns the economic design and operation of Chemical plants. Fundamentals of this discipline drawn from physics, chemistry, mathematics and increasingly biology, are combined with engineering art to understand and control molecular and macroscopic processes in diverse systems. The discipline is expanding and the advancements in science and engineering are helping develop technologies that are more efficient, safer and environmentally friendly. Chemical Engineers have made important contributions to society over the years in terms of products and processes. The breadth and versatility of their training will continue to open many new opportunities for chemical engineers in the future.

The Department of Chemical Engineering was established in the year 1996 and currently offering B.Tech. Program with 60 intake. Students are admitted to the program through EAPCET examination. The department has well qualified faculty dedicated to teaching and doing research in fundamental and advanced areas. The Department has been producing competent Chemical Engineers to the society right from its inception. The Department, well equipped with all the required laboratories as per the curriculum with state of art equipment & latest software in Chemical Engineering such as aspenONE for universities r5, follows a well-disciplined teaching-learning process, and maintains a win-win student-teacher relationship on campus. The program is approved by AICTE and Accredited Four times (Five years in 2012) by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The department has inked MoUs with some of the leading industries. The graduating students are absorbed into reputed firms through campus placements (more than 90% during the last few years). The department aims at inculcating lifelong learning skills in the students. The alumni of the department are shouldering high positions in multifarious organizations. We periodically revise our academic curriculum to be in tune with the current developments in the field while retaining the core concepts from the discipline and limiting to the ambit of affiliating authority guidelines. Our students actively participate in National and International Conferences and have been winning many awards in 'Co-Curricular' and 'Extracurricular' activities consistently till date. The department is dedicated to realize the vision through its efforts in providing opportunities for the benefit of budding engineers, chemical industry and society.

The Research Laboratory was established with financial assistance from AICTE under "MODROBS" scheme. Department bagged grants for conducting seminars in 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2019 from AICTE, and Minor Research Projects from UGC. Further, the Department shares the equipment in Fluid Mechanics laboratory of Civil Engineering Department and C-Programming laboratory of Computer Science and Engineering Department, besides the common workshop facility and thus fosters collaborative learning. The Department is complimented with adequate faculty with Eight Ph.Ds. and Six M.Techs.

Dr. C.V. Subrahmanyam, Professor & Head, is the Executive member of IIChE ARC.Dr. K. Sobha, Associate Professor, is the Convener of Photographic Club, which aims to capture the nurtured strong human sense of 'feel' and cherish for lifetime.

The curriculum is implemented through well planned and organized lectures to make the learning most effective. The teaching and training is more student centered so that the pass outs will be able to prove themselves in a competitive environment. Periodic tests are used to gauge the performance of the students and counselling is offered appropriately to bring up the under performers. The Department lays special emphasis on project work. The projects are so conceived that they call for application of knowledge gained in various subject areas in Chemical Engineering.

The Department exposes the students to trending situations in Chemical Engineering by organizing Guest Lectures, inviting eminent personnel from Industry and Institutions. Further industrial visits are regularly arranged to process industries, besides arranging industrial training during the summer vacation after 4th , 6th and 8th semester. The faculty closely watch the students' performance and behavior and corrective suggestions are given whenever necessary for an all-round personality development. While the teachers bestow their utmost efforts, they expect the students to be disciplined & utilize the guidance and counseling available to become Engineers with a competitive edge.

All the attempts are made by the Department and Placement cell to arrange recruitment for the pass outs to the extent possible. The Department is successful in attaining above 90 % placement record of eligible students with the help of Training & Placement cell for the last four years. The alumni of the department are well placed and are doing very well at reputed industries such as Shell, ONGC, BARC, HPCL, IOCL, Andhra Sugars, South Indian Oils, KCP Cements, Granules, Hetero Drugs and others. Central Placement Cell provides guidance, counseling & training for development of integrated personality of each and every student. The Department not only enhances the employability skills of the students but also develops innovative entrepreneurs & dynamic leaders for the nation.

Traditionally the Department organizes one or two technical programs every year providing a forum for exchange of ideas and transfer of know-how between students of various institutions across the State / Country. The Department organized 6th Annual Session of Student Chemical Engineering Congress (SCHEMCON-2010) during 24-25 September, 2010 on the theme "Process Industries and Sustainable Development". The Department is actively involved in establishing IIChE- Amaravathi Regional Centre and its activities. IIChE-RVR&JCCE Student Chapter organizes various technical events such as ChECK (Chemical Engineering Contest for Knock out), guest lectures, technical exhibitions etc. In recognition of the active role, the student chapter has been awarded with Ambuja's Best student chapter (1st prize) in 2011, 2nd prize in 2012 & Pedilite Industries Best Student Chapter Award for the academic years 2015 & 2016 by Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Kolkata.

I, on behalf of the department, place on record our commitment to foster professional development and cater the increasing needs of the society with time.
